Fatality Reported in Los Altos Hills Accident on 280 Freeway Near El Monte Road

Los Altos Hills, California (February 21, 2017) – A deadly accident Monday evening killing one person on Interstate 280 Freeway in Sacramento, according to a CHP report.

The incident took place at around 6.50 p.m. Monday when a vehicles crashed into a CHP patrol car that was helping a disabled vehicle in the southbound lanes of 280 Freeway, north of El Monte Road off-ramp.

Fire crews and medics responded to the scene and transported the driver of the vehicle that struck the patrol car to Sanford Medical Center. Unfortunately, the drive was declared dead at the hospital.

The identity of the deceased was not released then pending family notification.

The CHP officer sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the cause.
